Clinic/encounter on print and sound self-publishing
A project curated/directed by Magui Dávila and Maite Muñoz January 25–26, 2019 MACBA, Barcelona
This event was conceived as a discursive space halfway between a clinic and a science fair—a laboratory for questioning and presenting the experience of producing meeting spaces for self-managing agents and others involved in the process of creating such content. For this reason, we invited a series of organizers from independent festivals and fairs related to self-publishing to take part in a “clinic,” from which a series of public presentations later emerged. This participatory and polyvocal space encouraged debate and discussion around issues related to management and the self-publishing of books and music productions—topics that are often difficult to articulate due to their complexity and the lack of structures that enable them.
All this was done with the aim of fostering editorial poetics and politics that could come together in a gathering to promote thought and debate on how to continue publishing, organizing fairs, and managing.
I Am Building Myself a Geodesic Structure of Power The program will conclude with a live DJ set by SVRECA and Angel Molina, organized in collaboration with Enrique Mena from Semántica Records.
